Great Minds Think Alike (...well maybe)

Recently I’ve been focusing on the potential role of refugial areas in the survival and possibly conservation of species in the future, and it appears these guys have too! The Climate Change Refugia Research Group are trying to prevent species becoming extinct as a result of climate change by identifying and conserving potential refugia areas! Here’s a screen clipping that explains the aims of the group but click here to have a look at their website – they’ve got newsletters, details of their projects, pictures and much more. They are based in Australia but I don’t see why projects like this couldn’t be set up anywhere in the world.

Also, The Blue Moon Fund is a wildlife conservation charity that strategically focuses conservation efforts on ‘climate change refugia’. This section of text from their website particularly caught my eye because it hints at progress being made in the policy realm. Maybe the findings of research into refugial areas could realistically inform policy decisions after all! Click here to have a look at their website.
