Refugia in the News!

One thing that’s been bugging me slightly is that there’s all this great research being done on how species’ responses to climate change in the past can possibly inform how they will respond in the future, and how preserving potential refugial areas should be the focus of conservation efforts, but there doesn’t really seem to be any evidence of this being translated into actual conservation policies. Can refugial studies actually help towards the future survival of species? Well I’ve found something that suggests that they can! Have a look at this screen clipping from an interview (click here for full interview) in The Atlantic magazine with Jack Williams, Director of the Nelson Institute Centre for Climatic Research:

Things are definitely looking promising!
